Lackland Somerset Rd. 3500 S.W. Military and Somerset R (Debby Perry April 2001)
"The Lackland Drive in was located on the corner of Somerset Road, and Southwest Military Drive, near Lackland Air Force Base. The Lackland was built and operated by an executive with Barrett Concrete products, and it was evident in the way the theatre was built. The Snack Bar and Projection room (San Antonio's first upstairs drive in projection room) was made of cement, as was the box-office, and a large patio in front of the snack bar. The lot held 450 cars, and the screen sat high on a hill with a concrete slab. The Lackland operated from 1953 to 1981. During it's last ten years or so of operation, it featured X rated movies. However the last movie to grace it's screen was ""Star Wars"". The Lackland had a few owner/operators. The last two were Gulf States Theatres, and finally Santikos Theatres."
