Bandera  (29 May 1946 - ?)  The Bandera described itself as being at "Bandera and New Loop 13". I find that to be confusing and it may not be of any help to us in our search.

3511 Bandera from 58'-75' and in 60' at 5714 Bandera? (Debbie Perry April 2001)

Update: A trip to the Library has turned up the following ad from the San Antonio Light.  It confirms the location of the Bandera Drive-In with a map and gives us the Grand Opening Date.  Unfortunately I seem to have incorrectly transcribed the date and will need to return for further investigation.

Gerald D. Lyda -- I have lived in San Antonio since 1954 and know the Bandera Road Drive-In well. The Bandera Road Drive-In was located on Bandera Road & the "New Loop 13." In later years, "New Loop 13" became "Loop 410" and it goes by that name today.
The first film that I remember seeing at the Bandera Road Drive-In was the Gregory Peck western, "The Bravados" in 1958. At that time, I remember it was really "out in the sticks" in an undeveloped and sparsely populated area of San Antonio. The Bandera Road Drive-In was eventually torn-down. An Office Max, Target Discount Store and retail center sits on the site of the old drive-in today.

We are currently looking for pictures, stories or other information on the Bandera Drive-In.

If you have any comments, corrections, or additions you can reach me Here.
