Here are the drive-in items from 'The Austin Chronicle', Vol 20, Issue 22, 26 January 2001. The theme of the issue was 'Lost Austin'.

18 Nov 1940: Edward William Joseph opens Texas' first drive-in movie theatre at North Lamar and Justin Lane.

Aug 1973: The Chief Drive-In on Lamar and Koenig is torn down to build a shopping center. Some people recall when that was the edge of town.

July 1979: Austin gets its first X-rated drive-in theatre, the Rebel, at 6902 Burleson.
